Director of Quality Systems

Department: Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Location: Osceola, AR

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

 

Direct and oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Departments at the Osceola, AR facility (KFI).             

Provide a vision for the QA/QC department that aligns with Kagome’s growth and future direction.

Drive and support the performance of both facilities to meet directed Kagome Quality KPIs.

Develop, maintain and monitor the budget and capital expenditures for the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Departments. 

Organize and motivate these departments to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

Maintain the quality systems necessary to assure product quality by providing plant understanding and compliance to programs contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. 

Promote an environment for teamwork throughout the plant and support SPC programs that generate improved plant operations and cost savings.

Support the CI&I and Sales Departments by visiting customers/suppliers and providing technical support when requested.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

2          30                    Manages and/or supports the following plant operations:

  • Problem solving of daily quality issues
  • Customer complaints
  • Hold and Release
  • Food Allergen & Sensitivities
  • Continuous improvement
  • Quality KPIs

3          30                    Facilitate the review of the following programs/procedures:

  • Manufacturing Standard Procedures
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points
  • HACCP Prerequisite Programs
  • Customer quality and safety audits
  • Statistical Process Control

4          5                      Responsible for hiring, development, evaluation and termination of Q.A. & Q.C. personnel.

5          5                      Other functions as assigned by the Senior Director of Quality Systems

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

 

Internal Contacts:

Direct contact with all Plant, R&D, and Sales Management staff, Q.C. and Q.A. Supervisors.  Directly manage Q.A. & Q.C. personnel.  Interact with all plant personnel.

 

External Contacts:

Be diplomatic and clear as a Customer and Supplier liaison when required by Management.

 

Education Level and Focus:

Minimum of BS/BA in Science or Food Science Field.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional oral and written communication skills.  Possess the ability to convey technical applications to non-technical personnel.  Exercise good judgment in problem solving situations.

 

Technical and Analytical:      

Exceptional organizational skills.  Must be able to develop and apply analytical methods and procedures utilizing computerized equipment.  Requires great attention to detail.  Able to use word processors and perform statistical analysis of databases information. 

 

Administrative and Operations:

Reliable and punctual with reports and presentations.  Possess good safety habits.

 

Physical Demands

Mainly office work.  Must be able to work extended hours on occasion and be willing to travel up to 20% of the time

 

Work Environment: 

Some chemical fumes, good lighting, hot/cold and humid temperature, high noise levels, wet floors.
