Break Relief Operator II

Department: Production
Location: Los Banos, CA

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Break relief’s duties are to provide and relieve for breaks and lunches, staging of ingredients for upcoming productions.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Relieves bin dump operator, sauce batch operator and pouch filler operator for breaks, lunches, days off, and vacations. Employee shall train all new relief operators by utilizing an approved training matrix, following all company policies and procedures.

2.      Assists the sauce batch operator with blending raw ingredients following approved procedures.  Stages ingredients for production, keeps process rooms and equipment clean during production, empties trash totes, inverts ingredients, tracks and properly stores partial ingredients. Comprehends and understands how to read a Material Requirement List (Picklist). 

3.      Assists sauce batch operator and filler operator with CIP/COP and sanitation of the sauce batching and filling room and related equipment (ie: totes, hoses, etc). Ensures that the parts room is clean and all parts clean and organized. 

4.      Supplies the pouch filler operator with film, assists in the cutting of rework and reprocessing.

5.      Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Internal Contacts:

            Sauce supervisor, lead person, sauce batching operator, pouch filler operator, bin dump operator, QC/QA, maintenance, purchasing coordinator, R & D.

 

External Contacts:

            Customers, vendors

 

Education Level and Focus:

            High school diploma or equivalent preferred

 

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

            Food processing experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Interpersonal and Communication:

            Ability to function with minimal supervision, including the capacity to learn and follow processing-CIP/COP sanitation procedures, safety rules and other directives.  Ability to speak and write English. Ability to understand and follow all Company Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines. Ability to understand and follow recycling program. Must be forklift certified.          

 

Technical and Analytical:

            Basic math skills, process equipment problem solving aptitude, formulation problem solving aptitude, ability to learn how to operate computer and forklift

 

Administrative and Operations:

            Aptitude for detailed documentation of the process activities including CIP/COP and room sanitation. Proper documentation of process including CIP/COP.

 

Physical Demands:

            Standing for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling

 

Work Environment:

            Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift and pedestrian traffic

 

Special Equipment Used:

            Blending tanks, transfer pumps, heat exchangers, central computer, tote elevator, forklift, pouch filler, hydraulic bin dumper, drum dumper, communication radios.
