Quality Control Manager

Department: Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Location: Osceola, AR

Work with the Director of Quality Systems to develop, maintain and monitor the budget and capital expenditures for the Quality Control Department in Osceola, AR.  Organizes and motivates this department to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

 

Continually monitor analytical data on a daily basis to address issues that may arise.  Report status of testing daily in the morning management meetings.  Provide QA metrics in the absence of the QA Manager when necessary

 

Support the review, understanding, and compliance of all programs, policies, and procedures             contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.  Audits completed run data and             summarizes food safety and food quality issues.

 

Review and update the Quality Control Procedures necessary to accurately measure the quality attributes defined in the product specific Manufacturing Standard Procedures. 

 

Maintain, update, and review the information in product specifications for accuracy. 

      

Performs routine GMP inspections at the facility and reports as well as tracks corrective actions taken for continuous improvement.

 

Initiate changes in the Q.C. Department that increase productivity and improve the reliability and accuracy of data generated.   Promote the use of data throughout the company to make formula and process adjustments.  Support improvements that generate measurable benefits to plant operations and cost savings.

 

Analyze data for process capability and improvement opportunities.

 

Assure COA and export requirements are available in coordination with the Shipping Team.

 

Assure schedule of QC lab technicians are sufficient to support production needs while meeting budgetary goals.  Review and approve timesheets.

 

In the absence of the QC Manager, the authorities described in this job description will be performed by the QA Management Team.

  • Procedures for the Quality Control Departments. 
  • Controlled Documents/Electronic records,
  • Updating  Manufacturing Standard Procedures,
  • Summarizes and reports on lab performance.

Participates on the following teams:

  • Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (FSQMS) review,
  • Allergen Control,
  • Food Safety Plan,
  • Food Quality Plan,
  • Product/Mock Recall.

Responsible for hiring, development, evaluation and termination of Q.C. personnel in junction with the Director of Quality Systems.

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Internal Contacts:

Direct contact with all Plant Management staff and R&D.

External Contract:

Be diplomatic and clear as a Customer and Supplier liaison when required by Management.

Education Level/Focus:

Minimum of BS/BA in Science or Food Science Field. 

Skills and Abilities:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Possess the ability to convey technical applications to non-technical personnel.  Exercise good judgment in problem solving situations.

Technical and Analytical:

Must have excellent organizational and computer skills.  Requires great attention to detail. 

Administrative and Operations:

Reliable and punctual with reports and presentations.  Possess good safety habits.

Physical Demands:

Mix of office and laboratory work.  Must be able to work extended hours on occasion and be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Work Environment: 

Some chemical fumes, good lighting, hot/cold and humid temperature, high noise levels, wet floors.
