RO Extractor Operator

Department: RO
Location: Los Banos, CA

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY  

Monitors Extractor operations while in production and CIP

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

% OF ITEM TIME JOB FUNCTIONS

1                    40% Follows approved procedures while operating tomato chopper, heat exchangers and extractor equipment during normal operations.  Performs set-up and makes adjustments while in operation

2                    40% Checks brix and viscosity of product every hour to ensure quality based on specifications

3                    5% Performs preventative maintenance as prescribed in equipment operation manuals

4                    5% Follows approved procedures completing CIP and COP of RO unit and production line

5                    5%       Completes production, quality and sanitation paperwork

6                    5%       Performs other duties as needed or assigned by superior

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

Internal Contacts:  RO supervisor, lead person, maintenance personnel, RO crew, RO operator and QC

External Contacts: None

Education Level and Focus:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:  Food processing experience in a technically advanced facility

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

Interpersonal and Communication: Ability to function with minimal supervision, including the capacity to learn and follow processing-CIP and sanitation procedures-safety rules and other directives.  Ability to speak and write English

Technical and Analytical: Basic math skills, process equipment problem solving aptitude, mechanical aptitude, ability to learn how to operate a forklift, ability to learn how to adjust equipment through control panel.

Administrative and Operations: Aptitude for detailed documentation of operation including down time, rotation speed and product temperature

Physical Demands: Agile, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing stairs, ability to work various shifts

Work Environment: Food plant, high noise levels, subject to cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, forklift traffic and exposure to wet and dry cleaning agents 

Special Equipment Used:  Tomato chopper, heat exchanger, extractor, high pressure wash station and hot water station. Two way radio for internal use only.
