Loss Prevention Specialist

Location: Los Banos, CA

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

 

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Safety Manager, The Loss Prevention Specialist will provide a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This position will coordinate safety training, write incident reports, and perform other accident and loss prevention duties. Supports the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures, and supports the Food Safety Culture and Quality Management System.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

40%: Follow security procedures to monitor facility access through key control for entry and exit doors and office doors. Monitor, implement and audit motor vehicle operating (stipulate where vehicles are allowed to operate) and parking policy

30%: Conduct compliance audits in the following areas: portable fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash stations, shower stations, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, power industrial vehicle (PIV) operations, emergency exit routes, and emergency exit lights

15%: Maintain logbooks of daily activities, including areas visited or activities performed. Maintain safety compliance for the organization by conducting training classes; conducting inspections of facility, equipment and working conditions; submitting suggestions for improving and reaching compliance and submitting work orders. Manage the Safety Data Sheets and database. Operate electronic and physical security systems, and complete required reports and logs.

10%: Work with the Safety manager to provide the necessary medical treatment for Kagomeís work-related illnesses and injuries. Assist and/or administer first-aid to employees for work related injuries and illnesses. Transport injured employees to a medical facility if needed. Coordinate drug tests following standard operating procedures (SOP) and only with appropriate approval from human resources. Conduct accident and incident investigations to determine causation factors; document by writing reports.

5%: Escort personnel to and/or from the property when needed. Conduct command post procedures in the event of natural or man-made disasters. Monitor severe weather and follow the emergency action plan. Works to support the Food and Workplace Safety Culture, and other activities when asked to assist.

 

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Internal Contacts:       

KIUS Management, Supervisors, Production Personnel, Maintenance and Quality departmentís employees.

External Contacts:

Customers, Contractors, Vendors and visitors

 

Education Level:

Associates Degree in Occupational Health. A combination of college courses and experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. EMT/First responder/Security/OSHA-10 experience and/or certification.  

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

Minimum of 2 years Occupational Health & Safety experience and accident investigation, preferably in a food production environment.

Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Conducting tests and inspections of job activities, services, or processes to evaluate quality and safety performance. Analyzing needs and employee requirements to create a safe work environment. Review job hazard analysis with employees.

Work Environment:

            Working in both an office environment with moderate noise levels and in production areas with high noise levels with hot, cold and humid conditions.

Specialized Computer based software, PC, 10-key calculator, fax, radio, alarms, diagnostic tools and telephones.
