MRP Coordinator

Department: Logistics
Location: Los Banos, CA

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Generate production schedule as well as coordinate accurate planning for all ingredients and materials to support schedule. Place purchase orders with suppliers for just-in-time and stock inventory items to ensure proper inventory on hand.  Monitor customer open orders and forecasts.  Monitor that all suppliers adhere to KIU vendor certification program.   

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

1.                           40%           Create MRPís and shop floor orders based upon monthly/weekly production schedules. Calculate material needed for production by reviewing inventories and open orders.  Generate and update Weekly and Monthly Schedules and distributes to appropriate personnel. Assist with monitoring customer forecast and open orders and adjusts schedules accordingly.

2.                           25%           Place purchase orders with suppliers.  Responsible for daily purchasing activities.  Cross train inventory control coordinator in placing purchase order, confirm orders, and monitor incoming deliveries against receiving calendar.  Coordinate freight for incoming deliveries.  

3.                           10%           Anticipate any potential problems arising from schedule changes, commodity shortages, production requirements, quality and vendor issues.  Consults with manger and assists in solving problems.  Performs cycle counting and data analysis for management reporting.

4.                           5%             Prepare for approval process of ingredients and packaging contracts where applicable.

5.                           5%             Coordinate Return Material Authorizations.  Meet weekly with QC to review ingredient hold list.

6.                           5%             Complete vendor performance, savings, and other reports as required.

7.                           5%             Gather new ingredient information for new costing requests.

8.                           5%             Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Internal Contacts:

            Department managers, production department, QA/QC, shipping/receiving, office personnel, controller

            Vendors and suppliers

 

Education Level and Focus:

             High school diploma required, college degree preferred.

 

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

            Five years inventory control experience preferably in food industry.  

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Interpersonal and Communication:

            Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with all levels of personnel, self-motivated, punctual, team player, organized.

 

Technical and Analytical:

            Efficient in various computer programs including spreadsheets, AS400, word processing.  Typing, calculator, filing, copier, fax, telephone.  Ability to prioritize and organize workload and special projects.  Attention to detail.

 

Administrative and Operations:

            Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, work under deadlines. Must be able to work under pressure with constant interruptions.

 

Physical Demands:

            Sitting or standing for long periods, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, stooping, ability to see tags and product for inventory.

 

Work Environment:

            Crowded office environment, noisy, food plant, hot and cold conditions (plant area, freezer, outside areas, etc), wet floors, forklift and pedestrian traffic
