Finance Manager

Department: Admin/Accounting
Location: Los Banos, CA



Support VP of Finance to ensure that all company financial obligations are met and documented.  Prepare annual/monthly budget. Provide financial and production data necessary for managerial decision-making. Prepare documents for financial consolidation and deliver managerial accounting information requested by the parent company in Japan. Maintain effective and competitive corporate finance and minimize finance expenses for the company. May supervise accounting staff and/or clerical personnel.





  • Prepare mid-term plan and annual/monthly budget in cooperation with CEO and detailed supplementary information (for both KIUS and KFI combined) to get approval of Board of Directors and the parent company in Japan.


  • Support VP of Finance on reporting the monthly financial statements with analysis of budgets in timely manner for KIUS.


  • Prepare monthly financial reports in timely manner for use at the monthly officers’ reporting.


  • Prepare monthly quick financial reports and top customers sales report with analysis of current financial status, budget actual variance, and forecast in future of both KIUS and KFI in timely manner for the parent company in Japan.


  • Prepare monthly cash flow statement with analysis of cash conversion cycle in timely manner for both KIUS and KFI.



  • Perform technical, and/or specialized managerial accounting work, which requires the exercise of independent judgment, the application of technical skills, and a detailed knowledge of the activities and procedures specific to the department or unit to which assigned.

  • Support VP of Finance on reviewing various tax returns for KIUS and its subsidiary and on responding inquiries from regulatory agencies and tax authorities (i.e.:  Federal and State Income/Franchise tax, State of California Sales and Use tax return, Business tax return, Merced County personal and real property tax returns, and Department of Commerce filings).

  • Prepare quarterly consolidation reporting packages in timely manner, and other documents requested by the parent company in Japan. Respond to inquiries by Japanese management, Global Tomato Company (GTC) and/or Finance and accounting department regarding business financial practices and government financial requirements in the U.S. and give recommendations regarding the preferred plan of action.

  • Develop, implement and direct internal controls policies and internal controls procedures for KIUS and its subsidiary.  Research alternative policies and introduce the most appropriate in cooperation with the parent company in Japan and deliver up-to date information to internal audit department.


  • Finance from banks by the most appropriate way for the company, considering financial needs on a medium and long-term basis.


  • Hedge the risk of exchange rate fluctuations in timely manner by using forward exchange contracts.


  • Support VP of Finance on coordinating annual audits by the independent audit firm.

  • Work closely with Capital Administrator to ensure CIP projects are being reviewed and reported to Accounting on monthly basis. Lead and organize yearly inventory of Fixed Assets. Work with IT consultant and verify existence of computer equipment matches with fixed asset ledger.


  • May supervise the work of the accounting staff. Approve accounts payable invoices for payment.
    • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Education Level and Focus: 

           Bachelors degree in accounting or business, or equivalent years of experience.   


Years and Type of Related Experience Required: 

         A minimum of 5 years in the manufacturing industry or public accounting experience with manufacturing clients. 



Interpersonal and Communication: 

Must be able to interact and communicate with a broad spectrum of internal and external contracts. Includes the ability to communicate with Japanese management or accounting department (either in English or Japanese).  


Technical and Analytical:

Computer skills using word processing, spreadsheet and ERP software.Understanding of Financial accounting, Managerial accounting, Financial reporting, and Corporate finance  .


Administrative and Operations:

Must be able to manage a variety of projects to successful completion simultaneously. Must be organized and detail-oriented. Must be able to motivate co-workers to complete their part of the project on a timely basis.


Physical Demands: 

Office demands include frequent speaking, both in person and by telephone, writing, reading written reports and computer screens, operating a computer keyboard and calculator, and occasional light lifting of paperwork and other small office products up to 25 lbs.  Occasional travel may be required. May sit in front of computer for approx. 8+ hours with 2 hour intervals being in a stationary sitting position.


Work Environment: 

Office environment with high to low levels of noise, adequate lighting, and comfortable temperature.
